30% Of U.S Households Will Own A Wii By 2011

Analysts from Merrill Lynch are predicting that 30% of U.S households will own a Wii by 2011.

Yoshiyuki Kinoshita, an analyst at Merrill Lynch, made the prediction following news that Wii had captured a 68% share of the Japanese next-gen market last month, selling over 400,000 units against 150,000 units for PS3. In the U.S, Wii outsold PS3 by 436K to 244K, although, of course, PS3 is still out-billing Wii on a dollar basis.

Wii Tops January US Sales

The Nintendo Wii was the clear winner this January.

Wii - 436,000
Xbox 360 - 294,000
PlayStation 3 - 244,000

Total sales of video game hardware and software hit $1.3 billion in January, with game sales jumping more than 50 percent to $549 million, though NPD added that was somewhat inflated due to its January 2007 data covering 5 weeks instead of the 4 weeks in its January 2006 report.

Many Control Choices For Fire Emblem (Wii)

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (GC) was a great game and I,m sure Fire Emblem (Wii) will be even better. The developers of Fire Emblem for the Wii know that when something works you don't go and mess with it - I,m sure the temptation to make use of the Wii controller's motion sensing capability was strong - and judging by the following image you won't be seeing any gimmicky controls. The controls appear to be similar to those of Path of Radiance but you will have the option to use either the Gamecube controller, the Classic controller or the Wii-mote.
